April 29th 1862 Camp
Near Guineas Station V A
Mrs Nancy Dear Wife
am bless with
the presant oppertunity of droping
you a few line to in form you
that I am well and stout and
I like my new camp we are in
a few miles of the yankeeys
our pickets have taking in several
of the yankeey pickets tha fetch
in som every day our regment
have not sent no pickets gard
out yet we have just got
our tents all up we landed at
Guineas Station last Sunday
eavining but we are reddy fur
sur vis this morning we are in
a bout seven or eight miles of
a bout 30,000 yankeeys we have
a bout 15,000 men whear reddy
fur them and if tha dare come
eny futher we will let them
hear from us we will make
them know that a white man
is better than a nigger the
rockey face rangers is anchious

tha is the way fur you to back
your letters and then tha will
come to me Dear wife I never
saw eny thing be fore I came
to ritchmon it rained on us all
nite and next day untill a bout
a eleven o clock and then we
marched a bout two miles to
som houses that was bilt fur
the soldier and thare we stade
all knight and next morning
which was sunday morning
we marched back in town and
twok the cars fur this place
Dear Wife I must stop fur I have
bin hured ever sence I commenced
this letter so good my Dear

be glad to se you I hope you
are well and all the rest of
my folks you must do the
best you can and I will do the
best I can I would be glad
to see you but I cannot I try
