Camp Orange Court House Va March the 27 1864

Dear Father I a gain Seat my Self to drop you
a fu mere lines in order to in form you that I
am still in the land of the Living and is as well
as could be exspeted under the circumstances we have
got snow a plenty it fell night before last a bout
fifteen inches deep and sinc that time thare has
bee a Regular Snow balling Danils Brigad
and a Brigad of alabamians takend it yestaday
hot and heavy the charged them a Bout one mild
and thay Reinforced and drove us Back to our
camps and captured the 2nd Battalions Flag pole
But we held on to our Flag thay say they are going
to charge us out of our camps to day if thay under
take it you [???] ought to See us make the Snow
fly the georgia Boys has Been trying ever since thay
got up this morning and two of them finley
concludid thay could try it with Bottles and
Sticks But thay have takend a notion to drop it
and Quit we hav had a finly time sinc
the snow fell But when it al gits off I
exspect we will have it to try in a different
maner thare aint a doubt but what we will
have a heap of hard fighing to doo this summer
and it is a going to bee very hard times with
us for the Rashings that we are getting at this
time will hardley keep us off of the

But it will be awful for them that lives to see
the time Role a Round my notion is that this
Fuss will end by the first of next Septtember
But the most of us may be kild by that time
and it never will doo us aney good But i hope
that god will pertect us through this un holy and
unfair strugel all of the Boys is in Common
helth at the presant I have no newes of importan[?]
to write all things is Still a long our lines to day
for the snow is so deep that thay cant make
aney moove I wroat you a letter the other day
containing all the newes we have witch I hope
you may git give all inquiring Frends my best
wishes and Receves them your Self So nothi
