May the 28th 1863
Dear Wife I seat my self to
answer your Kind letter
that I recived yesterday and
I was glad to hear from you
But Sorry to hear that you was
sick this leaves me well and
I hope those few lines may
reach & find you the
same Blessing I omit that
John B. Blake did not tel
much of a lie for they
was a grate deal that did
not do there deuty I have
noticed him very Closely
since the fight & I perseived
that his pants is little stained
But I think that he has
washed them since
the Battle dont let no Body see this

you wrote a Bout I hope
if they are that Bad off
a Bout a young man I
hope the time will
soon come when they
can get married tel
your Father that I will
write to him soon I
have not got time
write to him this
time so nothing
more at present
