Camp Jackson near Richmond
October the 26 1862
Dear Wife I Seat my Self this Sabbath
evning to drop you A few lines to let
you know that I am well at this time
and I Cincerely hope when those few lines
Come to hand they ma find you in the
Same State of health I recived
your kind letter last Thursday and was
glad to hear that you was al well
I can inform you that I Rote you A
leter Since I dont know whether you
got it or not I put in A brest pin
and I want you to anser that leter
you Stated in your leter that you had
hierd Riley bendfeel A haf A month
for six dolers I think that it is low A
nuff but try and pay him in money
and try to hier him A hole month I
tel you til he gethers the corne and wheat
Seeded the wheat and gets wood to do
you this winter it will take A month
and I will tel you to get him if you can
and pay him the Money and put the
hogs up I forgot to tell you that I received
them Socks and gloves and swetcakes
and was glad to get them I hant got
any news of any importance to Rite at

Dear and beloved Wife and Children
I now can inform you that I would
like to see you all but it is out of my
power to Come I dont expect to come til
peace is made do the best you can and
live in hopes that we ma meet again
and if we meet no more on earth I
Hope we will meet in heaven where
trobel and parting is nown no more
I can inform you that we get beef and
baken and flower and Shoogar and
Sometimes Sheld beans and peas
thare is so many Sick at this time there
was last friday in our company only 16
abel for dril I can say to you that Camp
life is hard to deal with We must
go throo with the Camp diseases that is
the Reason that Camp life is so hard
A man in Camp cant eat I dident
eat any thing for five days hardly
So nothing more at presant
