threw the gap and was ordered
to march upon afree march in sped
but when we got thair we found no
yanks thair but we dont no
what our we may hav to start
back to the gap for they say the
yanks is close thair and we dont no
when we may hav acumbat with
them the pepel is planting corn
hier and the woods is geting green
and it makes me want to be
at home aplanting corn sobad
I cant rest but i now I shal get to
plant no corn this yer sereptia I
want you to keep in good hart for I
stil hope I wil get to come home
