Dier wife I seet my self
to in form you that I am well
at this time hartiley hoping
when thies few lines come
to hand they may find you
well weair stil at clinton
but dont expect to stay hier
long but I dont no whair we
will go yet I hier bad acounts
from your contrey I hier that
lieutenant garen went to take
Ruben staton and he kild
him and I hierd that 1 of
the staton boys was kild
and another wonded I hav
got some money for you but I
dont no hw I wil contri vit
to you Sareptia I do want to
see you excedingley bad I am
drdful tired of this old war
but we must be patient

mee we get tolerble plenty
to eat hier and we hav to dril
3 times aday Sereptia I want
you to rite to mee all about

often for I do love to hier from
