Camp at Winchester 23 Regt NC troops
Dear Father And mother
And sister I Again am spard once
more to drop yow Afew lines theas lines
leavs me well And I hope they may
find you well I will Say to you
science I wrote to you Before I have
Ben to Merland but did not stay
long we cross over in the morning
And come back the next Eaving we
went About six mils in
I dont know what Early [1] object
Was in gowing but I hear that
our cavelary had got And
By him gowing that would giv
A chance in getting out they went
To chambersberg in Painsilvania
And Burnt the citty it was A con
place I herd that they Burnt 300 hondred
howses I will tell you that I Recivd

of Jwly And also one from Elizabeth
which I was glad to hear yow was
all well I got it in Merland so I
will give yow they news what we are
doing at Winchester we cume hear
yestoday morning we cume from
Bunkerhill our owther troops is still
at Bunkhershill I herd the Reasin
we came wp hear was they yankes
takin our cavelary on serprise
And capterd some of them And
we was sent hear to hold this place
we are in Aline of Battle But
I dont feell oneasly Atall for I dont
think the yankees will come hear
And if they do I know we can
whip them so I have give yow
all they news About the war I

living we are drawing some of

And good Beef And we are getting
Some of they Best Apples yow ever
Saw And some few peaches And

sawssy I am in as good health
as heart cowld wish for I havint
miss Adays dwty sceince I left
taylorsvill the forth day of May I
am in good spirts as I was the
the day I left home so I will close
