Papers of the Cunningham and Blakely families, 1840-1874
William Rush Blakely (ca. 1843-1863) was from Clinton, Laurens District, South Carolina. He was one of sixteen Blakely family members that served in Co. F, 14th South Carolina Infantry. He had at least nine siblings, but his letters were written to his sister E. Francis, “Fanny,” Blakely (b. ca. 1841). He was killed at the Battle of Gettysburg in July 1863.
