Benjamin Franklin Neves (b. ca. 1852) was from the Mush Creek neighborhood of Greenville District, South Carolina. His parents were Alsey Albert (b. ca. 1815) and Ann Pool (b. ca. 1810). Three of his brothers served in the Confederacy: William P. Z. F. (b. ca. 1835), John Pool (b. ca. 1838), and George Washington (b. ca. 1841), all in Co. A (later Co. H), 3rd Battalion, Palmetto Light Artillery. All three survived the war.
