Camp Furlow adams Run June the 22 1862

Dear father and mother and Brother and
sisters i take mi Pen in hand this B[l]esed
sabbath eavning to let you all now how i am
Getting A long father and mother i Can inform
you that i hav be un well for A bout 8 Days
But thank God i am A but Agane last
thurs day was A week we all left adams run
to go to Jams island we got to the savanna
depou About sun up A Friday morn ning
and stade their till A bout ten 10 oclock
then we went over in charls ston till satter
day till ten oclock then the Bat talion left their
for Jones island and they left me and
hairres Cooper in the Charles ston hors pittle
we stade their 6 days til we got Bet ter and
then we left thir and come Back to adams
run wheair our tents was they air some
few of the Bat talion hear to take cear of
the things i Daunt now wheather the
Bat talion will come Back hear or not

and they was all well our men and the yankey
had A Blud dy Bat tle on the island last
mon Day the was A charles ston Bat talion
and A gor gy redge ment engaged in the
fite the yankey tride to charge our Bat
try three times and our men cut them Doun as
fast as they come the nomber kild on
our side was 40 the nomber woun ded was
60 wich mad one hundred that we Lost
the yankeys Laus is sed to Be 400 hundred
kild and 70 taken Prisners men has

the fite more or less ever Day our
me took 20 more Prisners their the other
Day our Bat talion was in 3 miles
of the fite they air looking for a fite
thir ever Day now we hav somp thing
over twenty thoussons men on the island
at this time and Plenty more close By

i exspect to start to the Company in the

15 thousand yankeys on the island But they

i will tell you sompthing more A Bout
Beaing sick i had A lite tuch of the
fever when i went to the hrspital
the Dockter their giv me some strong
meddreson and got the feaver Broke

rite off they was a Ladies that wated
on the horspittle sick they tred ted

can and give me all the i wold give
