Biography:
Young J. Culbertson Sr. (ca. 1797-1877) was from Laurens District, South Carolina. He worked as a farmer. Several of his sons served in the Confederacy, including his son-in-law William Irby Box (b. ca. 1839). His namesake Young J. Culbertson Jr. died at the Battle of Gettysburg in July 1863.
