Sulivans Island
March the 8th 1864
Deare wife I now take this
opertinity of writing to you a gain but
I got out of Sumter last night & I feel so
pround since I put on my close I mus tell
you about it I wrote to you Sunday but
do not Recolect now wheather I Said any thing
about geting yours of the 22nd Inst
I feel verey much weried after siting up
so much I have loosed a great deal of sleep since
we went their we was relived by one of
our own detachment Regt we will have
to go a gain if we stay here but if I can
get out safe a gain as I did this time I will
not care much we got lost last
last night & run way down to Moultrey
& got a ground & I looked to be fired on
from Moultrey but we got out safe
I have nothing strange to write now I
Received a letter from N T Martin the other
day he was well Longstreet is falling
back A J Smiths wife is heare on
Mount pleasant you had better come

down & Stay two weeaks with me as the
money is no account or will be none
soon you may do as you please with
the money you have on hand but think
the best plan will be to Fund it the
bonds will be worth something if we
gain independance I have some I do
not no whether they will take it for
sault or not but if they will not I
will try & send it to you & you can do
as you please with it The boys a all
well Capt Pickens has gone home
on a thirty days furlow sick
So I close for this time
your true & loving husband as ever
