Rebecca Jane (b. Georgia ca. 1839) was a farmer's wife residing in Talladega County, Alabama. At time of the Federal Census of 1860, Rebecca and her husband David H. Mitchell (b. in Georgia ca. 1835) were living on their farm with their two children, Nancy (b. ca. 1856) and George (ca. 1858-1925). Mitchell served as a private in Co. A, 12th Alabama Infantry. They had two more daughters during the Civil War: Lucretia Jane (ca. 1861-1936) and Mary Frances (ca. 1861-1944). Although her husband died during the war, Rebecca survived the conflict with their children.
