Prisoners Camp Elmira NY this
this Sept the 15th 1864
Dear Wife with great pleasure that I this
morning Seat myself to let you know whare
I am and that I am well an hoping those lines
will come to hand in due time and find you al
well I have bin A prisoner since the 7th
of July I have enjoyed moderate health ever
since I have bin A prisoner we are fairing
very well for prisoners A. J. Harvell
is hear in prison with me W. J. Bunn and
Minor Blackman are hear in the same
prison let Mr Harvels family know whare
he is and that he is well I would be glad to
see you all but there is no chance at this time
but I hope the time is not fair distant when we
can mette again wright to me as soon as
you git this direct your letter to Elmira
