Orange Court House va Aug 20th
Dear Brother
I seize a few moments
to write you a very short note to let
you know I am still nomberd in with
the living & in verey good health
hopping thes few lines may finde
you all enjoying the same blessings
Jacob I am sorey to say to you our
noble old army is becoming verey tierd
of the war and Deserting like hel
one hundred Left Gen Danwels [1]
Brigade Last nite I fear they will so
many leave that we will have to go
up the spout I got a letter from
Hulgin the other day he was at Peters
burg va doing verey well he was
taken a Prisner and Just arrived
thare from the north he said he saw
several of the Dekalb boys over thar
in yankadom he saw John G Higgins
Higgins was very sick when he left him

at fort Delaware

he saw L D Patterson Steaph Patterson
cany Cane Bill Cane Bill Taylor
they was all doing verey well Hulgin
did not see any of Co. E. but Higgins
I heard from Evans the other day he is
at Lynchburg va doing verey well
Jake I wrote to you twist while you
was at Chalotsville and sent you one
letter that come here to you and allso
sent you your Descriptive List
Jake Frazier & Brandon has sent up
there papers to bee Discharged so they
will bee off for home in a few
days I will write a gaine Dr
Steaphens is going to start home
on furlough in a few minits
I will sende thes few lines with him
he is going to Lebanon you will see
him he will tell you all the news
we are all in good health
so good by to all
