Daniel Gillis Letters

Daniel Gillis (b. ca. 1839) was from Pike County, Alabama. He served as a sergeant in Co. F, 39th Alabama Infantry. He enlisted on May 5, 1862, was promoted to lieutenant in October 1864, and was wounded at Bentonville, NC on March 19, 1865. At the time of the Federal Census of 1870, Gillis was married with two small children and was employed as an assistant U. S. Marshall.
