Well Mother
I will write
a few lines to you to
thank you for the things

Home when I tasted of
that Pie I wish I could
be down there & eat with
you once more but I
hope it will not be a
great while before I am
at Home I never was
so tough & rugged in
my life nor never was so flashy [flashy = fleshy]
we have got little log Houses

Place in one side they are
nice and warm I tell you
you said you was going
[page 2]
to give that History
to the Son that descracd
it most I am sure
that I shall not get
it you will have to give
it to some of the rest
that has not been so
