Biography:
Otis Getchell (b. ca. 1841) was the son of Eleanor and Joel Getchell (b. ca. 1810), a farmer residing in New Portland, Somerset County, Maine. Otis served as a private in Co. G, 17th Maine Infantry. His brother, Ezra Getchell (b. ca. 1844), served as a private in Co. K, 2nd Maine Cavalry. Otis and his brother survived the war.
