Well Father
here I be in an old nigger house on an
old plantation now used as a
Hospital. I come here yesterday
you may think that I am guite
sick. I be. I have got pigsties on both
eyes. you may say that would not
make me sick, well it dont. then
you will say what is the matter
well I have had the diarear pretty bad
since I have been out here but I
have got over it now & it has left
me pretty weak my legs refuse to
carry me round as strong as they
should that is all that
is the matter my health is pritty

good other ways than that.
I expect we shall be payd of[f] this
weak, the talk is that we are going
to Washington as soon as we are payed
of[f] I hope we shall for if we stay
here six week longer there will not
be enny 2nd. Me Cav. There is only
four hundred Men out of twelve
hundred fit for duty Companies
cannot turn out over 15 Men
how is all of the folks up there
have you got that express money
yet & have you heard from that
allotment money yet I donot
see why you do not git it. I
must close to night good by
July 19th /64
Well I will try & finish my letter
inregaurd to that money if you do
not git it at the Town Treasury you
must go to the State Treasury for
it. the boys from our way are not

verry smart James emery is verry
slim he wont stand it long if we stay
here Fred Frank Huntoon is sick
Frank Ferrin & Orlando Quint are
tough healthy fellows Quint has
got a Corporals birth he makes a
good Coporal. there was two fellows
shot them selves to day one thru
the arm the other threw the knee
there has three shot them selves in
our Company one has gon home on
a furlow. has Otis been home yet I
have not heard from him since I have
been out here is Nell there now
how do you git along haying is grass
pretty good this year how does
the corn grow does the pig fat
enny how is Ella tell her to write
to me. I thought Joseph Williams
was going to write to me you tell
him to write to me when you see
him. how is wool going now have

have to hire muteh this summer
how is help pretty scarce.
how high is wages up there.
I am looking for a mail tomorrow
it has been some time since I
had a letter. I dont think
of enny thing more to write
so I will close by saying good
