Greanville La August 2nd /64
Dear Mother
after so long a time I will
try & answer your kind letter
which I received july 24th & was
glad to here from you I was
in the hospital when I got
your letter I was not verry well
neither was I verry sick
I have had the diarhear most of
the time since I have been out
here & it got me down pretty weak
I have been so that I could hardy
walk but I am gitting better now
we have got back to Greanville our old
Camp ground, we left Thibodeaux the
29th came down to Algiers & went in to

Camps then yesterday we had to
pack up again & came over here.
expect to leave here today or tomorrow
for parts unknown we go to Neworleans
& take Transports some say we are going
to Washington some one place some
another I hope we shal go a more
healthy place than La.
I received a letter from Father last night
I was glad to hear to hear that you all
was so well I was sorry to hear that
Mary Greenleaf was dead
I had aletter from Dora she was well
you wanted to know if I was in that
old Saw mill yet now I am not
I stayed there 18 days then went
in to Camp sick or I should have
stayed longer
Emery & Quint are in the General
Hospital they are pretty sick fellows
Frank Ferrin dont git enny letters
from home he complains dreadfully
he is well

when is Marrian agoing to be Married
does Charley cort her as snug as he
used to is Aggie Cortid enny I should
thing she was big enough.
you wan tid to know what I
thought about the war I think that
it will close dont you. Father nonead
to sent them post stamps I have a
plenty of them I cant think of
to write you must excuse bad writing
for I have to lay rite down in my tent
