Barrancas. Fa. Dec 7th /64

Dear Father
I seat my self once more to
pen you a few lines to let
you know that I am well
& hope these few lines will
find you the same,
I recd your kind letter to day
was glad to hear that you
& the wrest of the folks was
well I should liked to of
been there & helped you picked
that Chicken first rate,
tell Mrs Cook that I
should like to of been there

to Thanksgiving alltho she did
not give me an invitation,
I am glad you bought those
Sheep for me I shall have
quite a flock when I git
home, well I dont care how
larg it is,
you sayd you did not see why
they do not give me a furlow
as well as the wrest of the
boys the reason is they will
not give a furlow until a
man is just ready to drop
in to his grave then they
will furlow him if they
think he cannot live togit
home but no matter now
I am well & do not want
a furlow I hope my health
will remain good.
We are having a pretty
easy time now our Company
is on permanent detale

we have to go out every
morning about two nites
to guard the wood chopers
stay there until about
three oclock then come back
our Chaplin arrived here
last night with aload
of vegetables for the regt.
how did Otis injoy him
self while at home how long
was he at home, has Ben
Ball been heard from yet.
how does Dora make it with
her School is she liked.
I am glad Quint & Wilber
is gitting better do you
think they will be back here
again.
the boys are well from our
way. Frank Ferrin got a
letter from home to day
tell joseph Williams to
write to me & all the wrest

how does Mr Davis git
along this winter

thing more to write
