This presumable refers to James Hoepstine. He and Daniel Ohumacht were both born ca. 1844 and both resided in Pottsville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania at the time of the 1860 Census. It is unclear what connection the two might have had, if any. At the time of the 1860 Census, James W. Hoepstine (spelled Epstein in the Census) was living in the household of his widowed mother, Elizabeth, a native of Hanover, Germany. James Hoepstine served as a private in Co. A, 96th Pennsylvania Infantry.
