Biography: 

James S. Carmack (b. ca. 1838) was the son-in-law of George and Sophia Hartman. In 1860, Carmack and his wife, Susan (b. ca. 1842), were living in Bedford County, PA but later moved to Ohio. In 1870 the family resided in Wayne County, where James made his living as a plasterer.
