Biography: 

Henry Oswalt (b. SC ca. 1829) and Permelia Oswalt (b. AL ca. 1830) owned a farm near Starkville in Oktibbeha County, Mississippi. At the time of the 1860 Census, they were parents of two children, Ruhana (13) and William (10), both born in Mississippi. Henry Oswalt enlisted as a private in the Oktibbeha Riflemen (Co. A, 27th Mississippi Infantry) on September 11, 1861. In 1870 Henry and Permelia were still farming in Oktibbeha County.
