Biography: 

Permelia Oswalt (b. AL ca. 1830) and her husband, Henry Oswalt (b. SC ca. 1829), owned a farm near Starkville in Oktibbeha County, Mississippi. At the time of the 1860 Census, they were parents of two children, Ruhana (13) and William (10), both born in Mississippi. In 1870 Henry and Permelia were still farming in Oktibbeha County.
