Biography:
James T. Jones (b. ca. 1839) was from Panola County, Mississippi. On April 20, 1861, he mustered into service as a corporal in the “Sardis Blues” (Co. F, 12th Mississippi Infantry). Clanton mustered into service on May 8, 1861 and soon was promoted to sergeant. He was wounded during the Seven Days Battles around Richmond and was wounded again at Weldon Railroad on August 21, 1864. He died of his wounds in a Richmond hospital on November 20.
