Biography: 

John T. Culbertson (b. ca. 1831), who was a resident of Winston County and who served with James B. Brown (b. ca. 1841) in Co. F, 14th Mississippi Infantry. His records indicate that Culbertson was left behind sick at Bowling Green on January 22, 1862. He transferred to the 35th Mississippi Infantry before the end of 1862 and was promoted to corporal just before his regiment surrendered at Vicksburg on July 4, 1863. After being exchanged, Culbertson returned to his regiment and surrendered at Blakely, Alabama on April 9, 1865.
