Hart county Ky June the 16th 1859

My Dear Cousin
It is with pleasure that I now
take my pen in hand to drop you a few lines
to let you know I have not forgoten you it is true
It has bin a long time since I saw you or
even heard from you until you wrote to
Brother George But I am always glad to
hear from any of the relations. I always loved
my connection, But since brother Jephthah's
death I beleave they feel nearer than ever I
would be very glad to see any of them I have
some notion of visiting Brother David But
I dont know that I will get off as I have
no brother to go with me that can leave their
family's and go. If you wish to write to
your uncle David direct your letter to Whet
Meell Po Pitsalvania County Va. and if
want to write to sister Chaney I think
[page 2]
to write to me as often as convenent.
Well I hope you will excuse me but I
would like to know something more about
that young School Misstress that you wrote
about in your letter to brother. the reason I
am so ancious to know thare was a young
Lady that went from this county to Miss
about the time that you said she came to
your state and she taught schooll here
in Woodsonville I think she had an uncle
in or near Hernando. his name was Drane
I dont think it would be proper to tell the
young Lady name till I hear some thing
more about her. But I hope it is not her
for I have a better opinion of the Hart
county girls. But I dont know for the
men and women are doing reather bad here
of late for to morrow a man to to be hung
at Manfordville for killing his Wife I
dont know what this world is comeing to
(or reather the people that is in the world)
The cars are runing from Louisville to
Munfordville I think some of you all
might come to see us. you will please
give my love to your wife and kiss your
children for me (if you have any)
I must now bring my letter to a close
hopeing soon to hear from you.
Farwell
