My Dear Wife September the 28th 1864
I again sieze my pen to drop
you afew lines by Mr Simmons a member of
our company who is going to Start home in
the morning he is on a Sick furlow and lives
near Panola he will mail it thare i have
written several to you but i do not know
that you have got any of them but as i
promised you i would wright everry chance
I will do so I have not received aline from
you since i left home nor have not heard
nothing except for the letter that i saw that
Bro Jim got from Leannah She said that
you all was well and that all the children
was going to school that was large enough
I should be much pleased to get aletter
from you i am anxious to hear how you
are giting on and what are your prospects
for aliving another year i want to know
if filly has brought you a colt this spring
and how your hogs are looking and how
Benton and Harvey are behaving their

Selves if you have a School i think you had
better send them to school if not not put
Benton to plowing sow a little pach of wheat
or to breaking up land keep him at work
at something and as the weather gets cold
you will necessarily have to have fires and
let me caution you to be careful that you do not
let your house catch on fire and again you
ought to feed your cows and hogs so as
they will be able to stand the winter
if you have nothing to feed on sell part to
feed the balance i do not know when i can
come home but you may rest assured that i
will come as soon as posible i have not
heard from Henry since i heard that he was
near Egypt station on the Mobile and ohio
R.R. at a mrs Horton i saw Bro Jim a day
or two before i left Hoskins Battery he
had just got a letter from Leannah that
Mr Beal mailed in Granada she said
in the letter that she had sent one by
Wises negro but he had not come when
I left but was looking for him everry [1]
