Sister Fransis I received a letter
from you by Jane I would have
answerd it before now but I
have been waiting to get stationed
but it seemes that we will not
get stationed this winter We have
been under orders every since we have
been heare We are waiting transpertation
I do not know where we well go to
We are ordered to Jackson We will go
either to Vicksburg Port hudson or
to Tennessee I learn that there is a great
many of the Federals deserting and
coming ove to Vicksburg I learn from
man that come up from Granada
last knight that there was (80) deserters
there and there was (200) in Jackson
Theree is no news at this plase nearly
all of the caverly has left this plase
They are all gon over to the Mobile and
Ohio Railroad I do not know where
they will go to from there
I am in fine health and have been every
since We came to Grenada
I have not heard from Dock nor
Silvanous since I have been heare
Capt Patton of the Watervally
Company got away from the Yankes
at Memphis last week he reports
that they had to drive there men
on bord of the boats He says the
general impression among the Federals
is that the war will close by the first
of May I am mutch obbledge to you
for those things that you sent to me
I give them to Dock I was living so
mutch better than he was that I give
them to him We have lived fine since
we have been heare The rest of my mes]s?]
has got it from home

I feare we will not live so well
after we leave this place
I would have sent you some money
by Jane but she said you did not
neede it if you or Mother needs any
money write to me and I will send it
to you Tell Pint if he does not come
down or write [soon?] I will drop him from
my role and I hope the conscripts
will get him I learned that he
was a bout to marry if he does I
hope the conscrips will get him
any man that is able to marry is
able to fight I rote Henrietta a letter
the day I got heare I would bee verry
glad to see you all but I do not expect
to come home any more before the war
comes to a close I hope that that time
is not fare distant I send my respects to
all of the connection nothing more at
presant I remain your brother
