Biography:
Henry S. Hunter was the son of Martha Hunter (b. ca. 1804) and sibling of Francis C. Hunter Womack, Baldwyn Whitson (“Whit”) Hunter, and Pinson Calvin (“Pint”) Hunter . He mustered into service at Knoxville with Co. B, 15th Mississippi Infantry on August 18, 1861. He was promoted to corporal in November 1862 and to sergeant in March 1864. The Hunter family resided in and around Choctaw County, Mississippi.
