George Williams (b. ca. 1831) was a farm laborer from Giles County, Virginia. His sister, Nancy Jane Leftwich (b. ca. 1832) lived in Monroe County (now in West Virginia), bordering Giles County to the north. Her husband, David W. Leftrich (b. ca. 1827), served as a sergeant in Co. C, 39th Battalion, Virginia Sharpshooters.
