Biography: 

George W. Parsons (b. ca. 1845) was from Hagerstown, Wayne County, Indiana served as a private (later 1stlieutenant) in Company I of the 57th Indiana Infantry. Parsons was also a prisoner in Andersonville for a time.  At the time of the 1860 census, Parsons lived at home with his family, where his father, Amos, farmed.  Parsons reappears in the 1880 census at the age of 36 and living in Hagerstown with a wife and four children and working as a butcher.
