William Pinkney Cline Papers
William Pickney Cline was a native of Catawba County, North Carolina and served in Company K, 46th North Carolina Inf. The 1860 census lists him as a 26-year-old farmer. His wife, Mary C. Cline, was 25 and in 1860 they had three children: C. M., James, and Rhoda E. Cline. William Pinkney Cline died on May 5, 1864 during the Battle of the Wilderness. The letters are addressed to his wife.
