Camp Lawton Savanah Sept 18..61
Dear Sister I this night take my pen in hand to
inform you that my possition is ungreatfull
because I cant enjoy my self here at all the
cooking affairs is so that some times some
gits somthing to eat and some git
nothing and I never herd such quarling
and grumbling in my life there is never
a meals of vitals eat here by our croud
but what there is some one is quarling
about not gitting a nuff to eat some
says that they wont put up with it
but there is no use in talking so for
they will how to put up with what
ever comes we are not more than half
treated here it is not half as good as
Billopps said it was and there is some of [1]
his men that dont respect him for his
Lies if was at home out of the war fare
I would stay out untell I was made to go
we have plenty of musick here ever night
there is some of our officers that is some
what over bearing and if I had my way
then I would take him down a little you
wanted to no what mess me and David was in
we make three messes of the company and one is
first second and third I am in the first mess
and he is in the 3rd mess I believe

he stays in a tent with southwell
and marion popell & Clak I
tent with Richard & maderson
nothing more at the present
