Biography:
Evin Smith (b. ca. 1843) was a farmer from Stanley County, North Carolina. He enlisted as a private in Co. K, 28th North Carolina Infantry on September 7, 1861. Sometime between the Census of 1860 and January 1862, Smith married Lucy Page (b. ca 1842). Evin Smith was captured on May 27, 1862 and exchanged the following August. He was captured again at Spotsylvania Court House on May 12, 1864 and died at Elmira prison camp on April 2, 1865.
