William Boyd
William Boyd (1835-1862) resided in Abbeville County, South Carolina. He was married to Mary A. Crowther (1825-1901); together they had one daughter, Cornelia (1858-1944). William served in Co. G, 1st South Carolina Rifles (Orr's). His four brothers and his brother-in-law also served in the Confederacy. Along with four of these men, William died during the Civil War. He was mortally wounded at the Battle of Gaines Mill near Frazier's Farm outside Richmond, Virginia on July 27, 1862. He died three days later on June 30, 1862 and was buried in the Confederate Cemetery in Farmville, Virginia.
