Biography:
William Barkley (1785-1863) was a farmer. He was former resident of Anderson County, South Carolina, but by the Civil War, he had relocated to Cherokee County, Alabama. His brother was Josiah M. Barkley, who remained in Anderson County during the Civil War. In the late summer of 1861, several of William's family died of disease. William himself passed away in late 1863.
