Biography: 

Ucal Gunter (b. ca. 1830) was married to Amandah Huldah Bell Gunter (b. ca. 1842) and the couple had two daughters Rodella and Adlade, both born during the war. Ucal (spelled Uchial in the 1870 Census) served in the Confederate Army, but his service records cannot be located. His younger brothers U. X. (b. ca. 1833), Leroy (b. ca. 1835), and Daniel B. (b. ca. 1839) all served in the 20th South Carolina Infantry. According to the 1870 Census, Ucal and Huldah could not read or write.
