Andrew Jackson Dalton
Andrew Jackson Dalton (b. ca. 1839) was from a farm family in Pickens District, South Carolina. Andrew had seven siblings, and his parents were John and Mary Dalton. He served in Co. F, 1st Regiment, Orr's Rifles, South Carolina Volunteers. He served with several of his brothers, Charles (b. ca. 1844) and Jesse (b. ca. 1841). He also served with William T. Martin (b. ca. 1842), a neighbor and friend. In early 1862, Andrew became sick while serving the Confederacy. When William died in August 1862, William gave Andrew his "pocket book" with "seven Dollars & a Due Bill" to return to his family. Andrew appears to have survived the war and moved to Mississippi.
