Jan the 12th in 1862
Dear Cousins and Friends,
I am well as common, and hope these lines
may come to hand in dew time and find
you all well and in fine spirits, The People
in this settlement are generly well except colds.
We have had warm cloudy weather for some
days. it looks alittle like clearing off now
but it is too warm to say clear any time
This being the second sunday and I being
at Alsey Neves, I and Frances are in the
upper room writing letters to send to you.
William, how lonesome I feel no one knows, when
I am here, it looks like you and John ahouto
be here, I miss all my friends that are in
camps very much, I wish the time to speede on
when you all can return home to enjoy liberty
and the society of friends. Give my best respe[ct?]
to my friends in the Greenville Regs if you see any
of them tell them I would like to hear from
them at any time, I will close Far[w]ell for
this time.

and was very glad to get them as we dident have
