Richmond va Dec 24
My Dear mother
it is with pleasure that I seat
myself to inform you that I
am well at the present time
and hope that when these lines
reaches your hands they will
find you and all of the rest
of the family all in good
health we are now stationed
in richmond and have taken
up winters quarters we have a
good large house built for us
we have two good parlor stoves
and two large Cooking stoves
to each Company we will have
recruiting officers sent back and
tell Jim if he wants to Join
I want him to Come and Join
our Company A Company from
texas has Joined our Regiment
and now we have .11. Companys

in our Regiments I heard
from fannie ambrose last [sunday?]
she says that they have
sold out and are a going to
move to texas ma you must
rite to me and tell me how
pa and Jim and all the rest
of the Children are a getting
along tell Caleb and molly and
Johny that I want to see [1]
them Bad ask Caleb dont he
want me to go with him
to see mikes mill it is getting
late and I am getting tired
I must Close when you get
A letter from Henry I want
you to send me his letter
and tell me where to rite
to I have nothing more
to rite good by
