Biography:
Robert (b. ca. 1844) lived with his family in Layfayette, Chambers County, Alabama. His father Joseph H. Williams (1808-1886), born in Tennessee, was a farmer and “ambrotype artist.” He had at least eleven siblings. He and his older brother served in the Confederacy. Robert enlisted in the “Gilmore Guards,” Co. E, 14th Alabama Infantry on September 2, 1861. It is unclear if Robert survived the war.
