General hospital Staunton
va Aug 1st 1862
Dear Mother after my love and Respects to
you I would inform you that I am not
well I have bin down with tyfhoyd fever
for two weeks I was taken at Louisa
CH and then I was moved to this place
and have bin verry sick but I am better
at this time I am tolable well treated
at this place I have bin in a tent every
since I have bin hear but thay are a
going to move me to the house today and
I think that I will get along better
J T Williams of our company died heare
day before yesterday a Henry Gran of Capt
Herrens company died the same day both
of fevers this is a verry nice place and
has accommodation for abot one thousand men
and it is badly crowded at that
I want you to write to me as soon as
you get through this letter and let me
no how you are getting along with your
crop and how the people are
I want to see you and all the children
verry Bad but it is so that I cannot give
them my best Respects Direct to General
Hospital Staunton va Nothing more only
