Biography:
Reverend Thomas Bigbie (1795-1870) was born in Abbeville County, South Carolina. He moved to Alabama sometime in the 1840s or 1850s. He worked as a farmer. He was married twice: first to Rebecca Robinson in 1814, and second to Mary S. Burnett in 1835. He had several children, including Thomas T. Bigbie (1837-1864), Lewellen Washington Bigbie (1840-1903), and Benjamin Franklin Bigbie (1837-1864). Several of his sons served the Confederacy. He died of pneumonia in February 1870 and was buried in Geneva County, Alabama.
