George Washington Poe (1848-1934) resided in Fayette County, Alabama. He served in the Confederate Army in Co. I, 32nd Alabama Infantry with his brother William S. Poe. Although at least one record suggests that George died of measles on June 26, 1862 in Mobile County, Alabama, other records indicate that he survived the war.
