Biography:

Albinus Fell (b. PA ca. 1839) was a resident of Fowler Township, Trumbull County, Ohio. He enlisted as a private in Co. D, 6th Ohio Cavalry on December 9, 1861. Fell mustered out as a sergeant on December 11, 1864 on expiration of his term of service. The letters are directed to his wife, Diana “Mit” Fell (b. 1842). The couple must not have been married long, since Albinus was living in the household of his parents, John and Sarah Fell, at the time of the 1860 Census. In 1880, Albinus and Diana were still living in Trumbull County with their three children. His occupation was listed as “retail druggist.” Albinus must have died prior to the 1900 Census, since only Diana and one daughter are listed.
