John McCorkle (b. 1824) was an overseer from Crawfordville in Taliaferro County, Georgia. At the time of the 1860 Census, McCorkle and his wife, Martha (b. ca. 1830), had four young children. John McCorkle served as a private in Co. H, 37th Georgia Infantry. He was captured near Nashville on December 16, 1864 and died of pneumonia at Camp Douglas prison in Chicago on February 6, 1865.
