Biography:
George R. Barkley (b. ca. 1833 - 1864) resided in Anderson District, South Carolina with his parents and siblings. His parents were Josiah M. and Elizabeth Barkley. He and two of his brothers served in the Confederate Army. George R. (b. ca. 1833) and Martin V. Barkley (b. ca. 1838) served as privates in Co. D, 18th South Carolina Infantry. George died of disease while serving the Confederacy in March 1864.
