Ebenezer B. Coggin
Ebenezer B. Coggin (1834-1863) was a farmer residing in Chambers County, Alabama. In 1852, he married Ann E. Carlisle (b. ca. 1835). They had three children: Rosetta (b. ca. 1853), Newton E. (b. ca. 1858), and Georgia A. (b. ca. 1860). At the time of the 1860 Census, Ebenezer, Ann, their three children, his mother-in-law, and his sister-in-law were living near Cusseta in Chambers County. E. B. Coggin enlisted in Co. H, 47th Alabama Infantry on May 5, 1862 as a third corporal. He eventually rose to the rank of senior second lieutenant. He was wounded at the Battle of Chickamauga on September 19, 1863 and died on October 28, 1863 at Empire House Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. He was buried in Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta.
